SCREENWRITING ESSENTIALS WORKSHOP
Saturday, October 20, 1:00pm
Capitol Hill Branch, Seattle Public Library
Whether you’re a burgeoning screenwriter or simply a cinephile extraordinaire, you’re going to enjoy this seminar on how screenplays work. Join Vancouver screenwriter Jana Williams as she mixes commentary with numerous clips from several recent features to illustrate the craft of creative writing for movies.
In addition, the workshop will provide an overview of the physical process involved in shooting and finishing a feature film. This four-hour workshop will illustrate the myriad of decisions a screenwriter must face in crafting a screenplay for a feature film. The workshop is particularly suited for, and encourages participation of, young writers—although writers of all ages will learn a lot from Ms. Williams. Jana Williams currently teaches screenwriting at the Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design and is available for online coaching through her website, Wordsmythe.ca.
